Italian Program Inducts 17 New Members Into Gamma Kappa Alpha

The U of A's Italian Program proudly welcomed 17 outstanding students into its chapter of Gamma Kappa Alpha, the national Italian honor society, during its annual initiation ceremony in April. Gamma Kappa Alpha recognizes exceptional academic achievement in the study of Italian language, literature and culture at colleges and universities across the United States and Canada. The honor society promotes a deeper appreciation of Italy's rich cultural heritage while encouraging continued scholarly excellence among its members.

U of A's Phi Beta Kappa Chapter Inducts 94 New Members

The Alpha of Arkansas Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa held its annual initiation ceremony in May at Hillside Auditorium. The chapter inducted 94 new members from this year's graduating class at the university. Each new initiate signed the book, which has been used for the last 94 years to record names of Phi Beta Kappa members at the U of A, and promised to have paramount regard for moral character and scholarly attainment in the election of future members. They each received a certificate along with a light blue and pink cord to wear at commencement. Provost Indrajeet Chaubey addressed the new initiates and their families as the keynote speaker.

Forty-Five Students Inducted Into Sigma Chi Mu Tau Honors Society

Forty-five supply chain management majors from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the U of A were inducted this spring into the Sigma Chi Mu Tau Honor Society. Sigma Chi Mu Tau is an honor society dedicated to recognizing outstanding juniors, seniors and graduate students in supply chain management, as well as educators and professionals who have demonstrated dedication and meaningful contributions to the profession. Membership is open to students who maintain an overall cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 on a 4.00 scale and meet the following criteria:

Honor Society Leader Recognized Nationally for Outstanding Research Achievement

Alassandra Holsted, a University of Arkansas undergraduate student majoring in communication, sociology and criminology, was recently recognized as the runner-up for the prestigious Stephen A. Smith Award at the annual meeting of the National Communication Association in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society Inducts Fall 2023 Cohort

Lambda Pi Eta (LPH), the honor society for communication majors in the Department of Communication in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas, held their fall 2023 Induction Ceremony on Dec. 5. LPH welcomed 43 new members in the fall 2023 cohort. Students must be invited by Jake Dionne, assistant professor of communication and LPH advisor, to become members of the honor society after meeting the academic requirements. To be invited to be a member of Lambda Pi Eta, students must have completed 60 semester credit hours with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and completed 12 semester credit hours in communication studies with a minimum 3.25 GPA. Students in LPH are in the top 35% of their class and are encouraged to develop their studies through undergraduate research.
