Five University of Arkansas graduate students recently won prestigious awards and scholarships from the P.E.O. Sisterhood, recognizing their outstanding academic achievements. The Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) Sisterhood is dedicated to supporting higher education for women.

With more than 30,000 students on the University of Arkansas campus and over 200,000 graduates, everyone has a story to tell, and everyone has a different path to earning their name into Senior Walk. Markell Cox of Wynne, a senior majoring in music education, chose the U of A for the Inspirational Chorale, a performance ensemble within Fulbright College's Department of Music dedicated to preserving the tradition of Black sacred music.

The Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas named its Senior Scholars for the 2024-25 academic year. Twenty-six students from 13 different majors and concentrations were announced with eight students being First-Ranked Senior Scholars, signifying a 4.0 grade point average with all coursework completed at the U of A, and 18 being Senior Scholars, signifying students with the highest GPA (also all 4.0s) with at least half of their coursework completed at the U of A.

The University of Arkansas poultry judging team placed second overall at the 76th USPOULTRY Ted Cameron National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi.

University of Arkansas Recreation and Wellness recently recognized the academic and occupational success of more than 300 of UREC's student employees. The group holds an average cumulative GPA of 3.5. Fifty students were recognized as UREC Aces, an honor awarded to employees with the highest cumulative GPAs. In addition, each UREC program area recognizes student employees who demonstrate excellence in their job responsibilities and serve as role models and connectors among their peers.

Twenty-six University of Arkansas student members of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) participated in the 39th National MANRRS Conference, with four placing in the top three in graduate student presentation competition, one getting elected to a national officer position and seven selected for national scholarships.

University of Arkansas students Abhinav Komanduri, Jared Noel and Ian Popp earned the Goldwater Scholarship, one of the nation's premier awards for undergraduates pursuing research in science, mathematics and engineering. Each will receive $7,500 from the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Foundation.

To qualify for the Chancellor's List, students must achieve at least a 4.00 grade-point average for the semester while completing at least 12 credit hours.

The U of A is recognizing students for making the Spring 2025 Chancellor's List. To qualify, undergraduate students must attain a 4.0 GPA for the semester while completing at least 12 credit hours of coursework. The Spring 2025 Chancellor's List is available online.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve at least a 3.75 grade-point average for the semester while completing at least 12 credit hours. Alassandra Holsted, a University of Arkansas undergraduate student majoring in communication, sociology and criminology, was recently recognized as the runner-up for the prestigious Stephen A. Smith Award at the annual meeting of the National Communication Association in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas awarded more than $4.9 million in scholarships to 1,855 students this year. The awards, supported by alumni, faculty, staff and friends, help students across arts, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers two primary awards: the English Teaching Assistantship and the Study/Research Award.

Main Hill Media, the student-run advertising agency at the University of Arkansas, won eight awards from the Associated Collegiate Press, and Hill Magazine, the student-published feature magazine, was second nationally in best of show.

Breannah Small, a student of African and African American studies and journalism/political science in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas, has been accepted into the American Political Science Association's Ralph Bunche Summer Institute at Duke University and a summer research program at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Service Learning Initiative highlighted the success of University of Arkansas faculty and students at the 2023-24 Outstanding Contributions to Service Learning Award Ceremony on March 11 at the Cordia Harrington Center for Excellence.

University of Arkansas students, all of whom are students in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, scored big in the Next Gen(eration) Humanities Conference poster competition in Little Rock earlier this month, winning first and second place along with honorable mention. Every U of A student who attended the conference received recognition.
